Lady Eagles 20-0 in District

The Woodville Lady Eagles defeated Warren 4-1 last Friday night in Woodville. The win put the Lady Eagles 2-0 in district after a 16-0 thumping of the Lady Bulldogs of Corrigan-Camden on Tuesday.

Both Woodville and Warren held each other scoreless until the bottom of the third inning. Morgan Hammons ended the scoreless streak with a two RBI triple in the bottom of the third to go up 2-0. Warren scored in the top of the fourth narrowing the margin to one. Ashton Weatherford answered the Lady Warriors with an RBI double to centerfield. Tamara White added the final run in the fifth inning. Cayla White pitched a complete game in the win. The Lady Eagles are coached by Ronnie Brown and assisted by Chase Burkhalter and Shawn Mixon.

The Lady Eagles will play the Newton Lady Eagles on Friday and travel to Hemphill on Tuesday to take on the Lady Hornets. The baseball team will play at Bridge City Friday before opening up district Tuesday at home against Hemphill. The boys and girls track team will host their annual invitational track meet Thursday.

The Woodville Boys basketball team announced their All-District Selection. Senior Marcus Harrison and sophomore Marqui Jackson both earned Second Team Honors. Sophomore Sam Matterson, senior T.C. Mitchell, senior Dominique Lockhart, senior Allen Lee, and senior Calletano Padilla were named Honorable Mention. The Eagles advanced to the bi-district round of the play-offs.

The Woodville Eagles baseball team will be hosting a baseball clinic on Saturday, March 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Hennigan Park on Umphrey field. This is a FREE clinic. The clinic will focus on several drills including throwing, catching, fielding, hitting and base running. Any boy 5-14 can participate. Come out and play with the Eagles.
