CHESTER – The Lady Jackets volleyball team is nearing the end of district play and are already preparing for the playoffs.
Last week, the Lady Jackets traveled to Groveton and defeated the Lady Indians in three straight sets. The Lady Jackets will head into playoffs as the first-place team in the 1A division.
There will be a warm up game on Friday, Oct. 26 against Gary High School in Chester at 4 p.m.
The Lady Jackets will get a bye for the first round of playoffs and will meet up with the Oakwood Lady Panthers in the area round. Location and time will be determined at a later date.
Yellowjacket junior high and varsity football continue season
The junior high football team hosted the High Island Cardinals last Thursday, Oct. 18. Even though the boys played a good game, they were not able to defeat the Cardinals. Their next game will be on Friday, Oct. 26 at 5 p.m. in Oakwood, as they take on the Panthers in Friday night action.
The Yellowjacket varsity football team did not have a game last weekend, due to a cancellation. The Jackets will travel to Oakwood for a game against the Panthers on Friday, Oct. 26 after the conclusion of the junior high game.
Cross-country runners participate in Regionals
The Yellowjacket cross-country teams traveled to Corpus Christi for the regional meet on Monday, Oct. 22. The conditions were cold and damp, but the Jackets managed to be competitive. Running for the Jackets were Miles Redwine, Anthony White, Annie Rayburn, Faith Loughner, Brianna Cowan and Trinity Jerkins.
