The Woodville Eagles and the Kirbyville Wildcats both had scoring chances on Friday, but it was the Woodville Eagles that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 3-2 win at Hennigan Park. Kirbyville got four hits with just three for the Eagles, but Kirbyville stranded ten runners. The fact that Woodville grouped all of their runs in the fourth inning helped them take advantage of their hits. Woodville would not relinquish the lead as Kirbyville was unable to weather the three-run inning deficit. Kirbyville scored a run in both the sixth and seventh innings.

Charles Fentress opened the fourth inning with a single to third base. Trent Daniels walked on four pitches to put runners on first and second base with no outs. Sam Matterson doubled to centerfield scoring Fentress and advancing Daniels to third base. Stephen Thomas hit a one out double to centerfield scoring Daniels and Matterson.

Chase Hensarling recorded the win for the Eagles. He allowed two runs over seven innings. He struck out nine batters, walked four, and gave up four hits. Hensarling threw 21 first pitch strikes in the outing.

Thomas and Matterson led the Eagles offensively with a double each and combined for three RBI's. Daniels received two walks in the game. The win improves the Eagles record to 8-7-1 overall and 1-1 in district. Friday the Eagles will travel to Newton.

The Lady Eagles defeated Hemphill 10-0 Tuesday and dropped to Deweyville 5-3 on Friday. Morgan Poncho recorded a no-hitter in the win against the Lady Hornets. The Lady Eagles are now 15-3 overall and will travel to Corrigan Friday.

The high school boys and girls track teams will travel to San Augustine Thursday. Woodville middle school seventh grade boys and girls won their division at the Warrior relays. Both eighth grade teams finished second at the track meet.
