Warrior track and field does well at Newton meet

The track and field teams traveled to Newton on Friday, March 7 for a meet. In the boys division, Payton Gordon placed 5th in the two mile event. Chance McGallion placed 2nd in the 110 meter hurdles, and Cody Hammonds place 1st in the 800, 3rd in the 200, 4th in the triple jump, and 4th in the high jump. Also, Tristan Garcia placed 3rd in the 800, Jace Herrington placed 5th in the 800, and Cameron Flebe placed 6th in the 100. In the girls division, Lauren Foster placed 5th in the 100 and Keri Banks placed 4th in the high jump.

On Thursday, March 6, the varsity Lady Warrior softball team played against Kirbyville at home. This was the Lady Warrior's first district game of the season. Although the team put forth a great amount of effort, the team was unable to defeat Kirbyville. On Friday, March 10, the JV and varsity Lady Warriors played at home against Woodvillle. The JV and varsity both began with a good start, but were unable to hold the Lady Eagles.

On Friday and Saturday, March 7-8, the varsity Warrior baseball team competed in a Franklin tournament. The Warriors lost their first game against Hempstead 7-6. Warren then played Cleveland which ended in a tie 6-6. Next, the Warriors played Trinity and lost 6-1. The last game was played on Friday against Anderson Shiro. Warren played hard and defeated Anderson Shiro 6-2.

The JV and varsity Lady Warriors will travel to Kountze on Friday, March 14. The teams will play at home against Newton on Tuesday, March 18. The JV and varsity Warriors will compete in their first district game of the season at home against Newton on Tuesday, March 18. The track and field team will participate in a meet Thursday, March 13 in Woodville.
