Warren JV defeats Colmesneil Bulldogs

Thursday September 12, the Warren Warriors junior varsity team defeated the Colmesneil Bulldogs. In the beginning of the first quarter the Warriors received the kick-off and Layton Vonberg returned the ball to the thirty-eight yard line. The Warriors advanced the ball as Keldron Chatman ran the ball to the other side of the field to the thirty-eight yard line. The JV team scored their first touchdown of the evening when Craig Murphy had a thirty-eight yard run. The Warriors then kicked the extra point which was good. The Warren Warriors were now ahead early in the first quarter 7-0. Colmesneil advanced the ball down the field until they reached their fourth down but could not make it pass the tough Warren defense. Warren started their offense at the forty-five yard line and was able to advance the ball to the forty yard line. Chatman then ran the ball forty yards for another touchdown. The Warriors ended the second quarter with a lead 13-0. Colmesneil Bulldogs received the ball in the beginning of the second quarter. The Warren Warriors defense fought hard, but the Bulldogs were able to get by and score their first touchdown. The point after failed and the score was now 13-6, the Warriors still maintained the lead. Chatman returned the kick-off to the forty-one yard line. The Warrioirs then ran the ball fifty-nine yards for yet another touchdown for the Warriors. The Warriors were now ahead 19-6. Warren played strong defense and the Bulldogs had the ball with eighteen seconds left in the first half. Colmesneil called a timeout and tried to make a touchdown before time was up, but the Warriors held strong on defense. The Warren Warriors ended the first half with a lead 19-6. The Warren Warriors continued to dominate in the second half and played tough both offensively and defensively. The Warriors won the game 27-12.

Friday September 13, the varsity Warren Warriors defeated Burkeville. The varsity Warriors traveled to Burkeville and won the game 22-6. Warren had a total of 261 yards rushing. The Warriors now have a preseason record of 2-0. Friday September 13, the varsity and junior varsity Lady Warriors traveled to Corrigan. The varsity Lady Warriors won their first two matches, but Corrigan fought back in the second two. The Lady Warriors played hard in game five and won the last match. The JV Lady Warriors had a tough game but defeated Corrigan in only two matches. Both teams came home with a victory for the Warriors.

The varsity football team will have their homecoming on Friday September 20, versus Sabine Pass. The Lady Warriors will also play that night at home against Newton. The Lady Warriors will also travel Tuesday September 24, to take on Hemphill.
