Three charged with theft from Walmart, drug possession

Three Tyler County residents were arrested and charged with Engaging in Organized criminal activity, along with other narcotics and theft charges, after they were found stealing various sporting good items from Wal-Mart on Cobb Mill road.

A Wal-Mart loss prevention officer caught the three suspects in the act, and contacted Woodville Police.

Officer Dees, Deputy Whitworth, Deputy Marshall, and Captain Mike McCulley of the Woodville Police Department responded to the call and were able to determine that some of the stolen property had already been taken to the vehicle.

"Those items were recovered from the car that they drove to the store in," McCulley said. "When officers confronted the three individuals and searched them prior to arrest, there were narcotics paraphernalia found on their person as well as some narcotics, identified as methamphetamine, pills, and other paraphernalia objects such a cellophane wrappers, syringes, grinders."

According to police, other drug paraphernalia was also found inside of the car.

"As a result of the evidence recovered, the three individuals were charged with drug charges in addition to the theft charges," McCulley said.

Jason Johnson was charged with Class B Theft, Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 less then 1g methamphetamine, Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty group 3 less than 28g, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Engaging in organized criminal activity.

Justin Johnson was charged with Possession of a controlled Substance Penalty Group 3 less than 28g, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, engaging in organized criminal activity, and Class C theft.

Vonica Smith was charged with Class B Theft, Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1, Possession of Marijuana less than 2 ounces, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Engaging in organized criminal activity and Class C Theft.
