The Spirit of Christmas, a musical review playing soon on The Emporium Stage, is not your ordinary holiday show. Along with old favorites and Christmas traditions, there will be some definite surprises.
"The show will have a little bit of everything from Christmas standards to comedic production numbers," said writer/director, Roxanne Babin. The performers are a cross section from all across Tyler County. Many singers, musicians and children appear in the production.
In addition, there are a few things I can't give away because they're meant to be surprises," she said. "But I promise it will be highly entertaining in the grand tradition of Christmas favorites to some unexpected numbers bringing together a unique and entertaining show."
The main goal of the production is to raise money for a larger theatre in the corner building next to The Emporium. All proceeds from The Spirit of Christmas will go toward this renovation. In light of that, Mrs. Babin has written an original script for the production. "It is the perfect way of allowing us to keep all proceeds in our theatre fund rather than paying royalties for a traditional script while still showcasing local talent," she said.
How better to get in the spirit of Christmas than with a live musical show. But be warned, get your tickets early! The show will run only 4 performances, December 6 – 9. With so much talent coming from all over Tyler County, it will surely be a sell-out!
Tickets are available at the Tyler County Art League 409-2832788 or 409-283-3832 or from any cast member.
