Dr. Douglas Mattingly, Jr., 78, of Woodville passed away Friday, June 1 after a one-car accident on Hwy. 69, south of Woodville. According to reports, Mattingly was driving toward Woodville when his Toyota Camry collided with trees off the roadway.
An eyewitness reported a brown Chevrolet truck was passing Mattingly just prior to the accident, but it is unclear whether this vehicle contributed to the accident.

Mattingly was a retired dentist, having practiced in Beaumont for over 38 years, and was a member of the Sabine Dental Society. He was a member of the National Greyhound Racing Association and loved fishing, hunting, and the outdoors.
