SPURGER – Tyler County authorities are seeking the public’s help in bringing two people into custody.
On Saturday afternoon, deputies with the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office were patrolling in the Spurger area, along County Road 4430 and came upon two vehicles stopped in the middle of the roadway.
When the deputies made contact with one of the vehicles, they observed drug paraphernalia in plain sight. A male subject in the vehicle identified himself as Derek Books, and told the deputies he was from Oklahoma, according to Tyler County Sheriff Bryan Weatherford.
The man did not provide any form of identification, and a female subject in the other vehicle identified herself as Shannon, but also did not provide any form of ID.
While the deputies spoke with the man who identified himself as Books, he fled on foot into a wooded area, and the deputies were unable to locate him. When the deputies returned to the original scene, they found that the female subject, whom they later identified as Jaylene Biddle, had fled in one of the vehicles.
The male subject was later identified as Daniel Lee Hooks, a 32-year-old who is known to stay along FM 92, from Spurger to the northern part of Hardin County.
Hooks currently has outstanding warrants for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver; tampering with physical evidence; evading arrest; resisting arrest; felony assault and failure to identify.
Hooks is described as a white male standing 5’7” and weighs between 190 and 200 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes. He has tattoos on his right arm and on the left side of his chest.
According to Weatherford, warrants will be issued, also, for Biddle’s arrest. Biddle is described as 36 years old and her last known address is in Colmesneil.
