Commissioners complete 2012 business with several meetings

by Tina S. Richards

Tyler County's Commissioners Court found it necessary to convene several times during the month of December to officially end 2012. Included in the Court's agendas were appointments and resignations to area boards, 2013's holiday schedule, and approving the scheduled dates for the Court to convene in 2013.

Commissioners approved a schedule of fourteen holidays for 2013. This is neither an increase nor decrease from recent years. Upcoming holidays for County offices will be January 21, 2013 in observation of Martin Luther King's Day and February 18, 2013 for President's Day.

The Court announced a schedule of appointed days and times plus location when the Commissioners will be meeting, over the course of 2013, for regular sessions. Unless there is a conflict with a schedule holiday the Court will meet each month on the second Monday and the following Friday. Monday meetings will convene at 10 a.m. and Friday's will convene at 8:30 a.m. All meetings will be held at the Tyler County Courthouse, First Floor, Room 101, in the Commissioners' Courtroom. January's meetings will be: Monday, January 14, at 10 am. and Friday, January 18, at 8:30 a.m. You can also mark your calendars with February's scheduled meetings as Monday, February 11 at 10 a.m. and Friday, February 15 at 8:30 a.m.

There were several reappointments to boards approved by the Court for upcoming terms. Robert Allison will continue serving on the Tyler County Hospital Board of Managers. Billy Rose will continue serving on the Tyler County Appraisal Review Board as will Sue Wood as a representative on the Work Force Solutions Operations & Executive Board. Doug Libbey was appointed to serve on the Allan Shivers Library Board.

There were a couple of ESD Commissioners who resigned at the close of their two years service commitment ending December 31, 2012. The Commissioners approved Keith Fuller to replace Greg Dawson as one of the ESD Commissioners in District #3. In District #5, Herbert D. Odom will replace Jimmy Walker and Ronald Willmon will replace Larry D. Walden as new ESD Commissioners.

Commissioners also accepted the resignation of Robin Leal as the County's Texas Agri-life County Agent. Judge Blanchette noted that Ms. Leal will be missed.

Dale Freeman of Tyler County Emergency Management accepted a commemorative plaque for Mary Ann Rosier, who was unable to attend the ceremony, in recognition of her many years of work in and about Tyler County. Ms. Rosier recently resigned her position with Tyler County Emergency Management.

In other business the Court approved enlisting the services of Indigent Health Care Solutions for the purpose of obtaining Inmate Medical and Indigent Care for Tyler County. The Court also agreed to submit the necessary paperwork to seek Eminent Domain Authority in Texas with the State Comptroller Office.
