Chester Council sells dump truck

by Michael G. Maness

The City Council of Chester met on Monday, Sept. 2, for its regular meeting at 6 p.m. Even Labor Day would not deter these faithful council persons.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and passed.

The motion to approve the financial statements and pay the bills was passed without opposition as well.

The council had been discussing at several meetings now the hiring of a part time help, the city had received several applications, but they took no action on hiring at this time. However, they are still accepting applications.

After considering the cost of the contract with Unifirst Corporation for care of the city uniforms, the council decided a cancel the contract and sent a letter to that effect. In lieu of contracting, the city opted to purchase several sets of uniforms.

And the old Chevy dump truck was finally sold to Mack O'Neal for $2,100.

In good spirits and proud of their city, they adjourned at 6:27 p.m.
