Girls' Basketball- The Warren Lady Warriors hosted Corrigan-Camden Lady Dogs for their season opener on November 18. Laikyn Bell was able to help the Lady Warriors take this one, as she scored 26 points in a 47-33 win.
Bell started out quickly, scoring 10 in the first quarter as the Lady Warriors took an 11-2 lead. Bell would add another three points to start the second before Bailey Hamilton and Haley Briers added a couple of free throws to put Warren up 17-9.
Lex Kerr put in a free throw and a layup, pushing the score to 21-11. Bell then added another four points and Erin Foster hit a jumper to go in at halftime with a 27-16 lead. Bell and Briers started the third quarter scoring with a pair of layups.
Elizabeth Clymer had several key rebounds and a couple of blocked shots to fend off a run by the Lady Dogs, as they climbed back into the game at 33-22. Bell then scored the last four points of the third quarter as the Lady Warriors took a 37-29 lead.
With Bell out with an injury to start the fourth quarter, Brennah Buckner tacked on four points and a blocked shot to go along with Hallie Nevins' four points to put the Lady Dogs away 47-33.
Next up, the varsity team will participate in the Evadale Tournament December 1-3.
JV and varsity will then be in Spurger on December 6, starting at 5 p.m.
Boys' Basketball – The Warriors took their opener as well, beating Sabine Pass 55-50 after being down seven to start the fourth quarter.
Next up, varsity will be in the Zavalla tournament December 1-3. JV and varsity will host Spurger on December 6, starting at 5 p.m.
