On Monday, November 21, the Spurger Lady Pirates basketball team took on the West Hardin Lady Oilers for a non conference match-up. Coming off of a homecoming loss the Lady Pirates were looking to get back on track.

The Lady Pirates ran out of the gate fast to gain control of the game. Spurger's team showed great determination as they worked together to increase their early lead. Coach Amber Moore seemed excited to see her players execute their plays perfectly.
Lauren Griffin proved to be a strong force on the court as she consistently drove in the paint, and shot excellent mid-range shots. Griffin finished the game with 20 points. However, Griffin was not the only point leader on the team. Shelly Martin was a dominant force shot after shot. Martin finished the game with 16 points.

Although Griffin and Martin had a total of 36 points together, it was a team effort to take the win. The Lady Pirates defeated the Lady Oilers 54-37.

This victory gave the team momentum as they took to the court on Tuesday and beat Monsignor Kelly Catholic School's Lady Bulldogs 30-26.

With back to back wins under their belts, the Lady Pirates have gained confidence for the next week of play and look forward to a winning season.
