Patricia “Patsy” Ogden, 75, of Silsbee, passed away, Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017 at Pine Arbor Nursing Home in Silsbee, Texas.
Visitation was held Saturday, October 14, 2017, from 2 p.m. until service time at 4 p.m. at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Magnolia Cemetery all in Woodville.Officiating was Brother Larry Trest.
Serving as pallbearers were Chase Gibbs, Ross Gibbs, Richard Ogden, Bryan McClelland, Jeremy Vidrine and Jason Vidrine.Honorary pallbearer was Elijah Gibbs.
Patsy was born June 3, 1942, to Clydis & Angelle Meche Dupree, Sr. in Lafayette, Louisiana.She was a longtime resident of Woodville and had lived in Silsbee for the past 12 years.She retired as a Correctional Officer from the Gib Lewis Unit in Woodville.
Patsy was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed working in her yard and gardening. She was an excellent cook and was known for her gumbo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clydis & Angelle Meche Dupree Sr.; brother, James Dupree and sister, Janey Vidrine.
She is survived by her daughter, Lois Gibbs & husband Thomas of Silsbee; sons, Scott Ogden of Milam, Kyle Ogden of Silsbee; brother, John Dupree & wife Bessie of Woodville; sister, Diana McClelland of Arnaudville, LA; grandchildren, Chase Gibbs, Ross Gibbs, Richard Ogden, Cristen Ogden; great grandchildren, Elijah Gibbs, Milo Gibbs, Kinsleigh Malveaux and Tess Gibbs.
Services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville, Texas.
Funeral Service for Joe Henry Copes will be held Saturday, February 18, 2017 at at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Woodville, Texas. To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under Heaven.
A time to be Born: September 13, 1943 – Dies Community, to the parents of Beatrice Jackson-Copes and Rev. Charles Copes.
A time to Learn: Scott High School – Woodville, Texas and U.S. Army.
A time to Love: At an early age Joe met and married Miss. Freddie Mae Adams.
A time to Build: Joe worked for Keller Industries and later he worked for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America were he traveled throughout the United States as a Union Representative. After 20 years of dedication, he retired.
A time to Sow: Joe loved his community were he was an active member of the NAACP and UBC.
A time to Embrace: Joe leaves to mourn one sister Wanda Simmons (Robert) and one brother Hebert Copes.
A time to Mourn: Preceded in death by his parents Reverend Charles Henry Copes and Beatrice Copes; Sister Maxine Wooten, Jospehine Gilder, and Charlene Childress
A time of Peace: Mr. Joe Henry Copes was called home from labor on February 13, 2017, leaving to cherish his memories: Long time friend Sammie Brown, Sons: Gerry Copes, and Corey Copes (Brandi), and Daughters; Sheila Williams and Tanya Gill. Grandchildrens: Rev. Jason Copes, Sylvia, LaKeidra Telford, Phenomia Copes, Blake Hayes, Issac Copes, Mataya Copes, Carter Joe Copes, Darus Gill, Savian Gill, Monica Williams, Veronica Williams, Vernon White and (8) Great Grandchildren.
