Texas DPS Troopers along with multiple Volunteer Fire Departments and Deputies with the Tyler County Sheriff's Department responded to a major car accident that occurred on November 26 at approximately 12:45 p.m on FM 92 near County Road 4925 in Fred.
According to reports from DPS, a Honda van was driving northbound when the driver decided to make a U-turn and pulled out in from of a Ford Explorer. The Explorer struck the driver side door of the van.
The driver of the van was identified as Renee Cameron of Colmesneil. She was flown by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth with serious injuries. As of November 29, Cameron was still hospitalized with serious injuries.
Cameron's 8-month-old daughter was taken by Ambulance to St. Elizabeth, but did not appear to have any serious injuries and was secured in a carseat. She was released from the hospital shortly after the accident.
The driver of the Explorer was identified as Juan Rodriguez of Silsbee was not injured but his wife who was riding in the front passenger seat was flown to Herman Memorial in Houston with serious injuries. As of November 29, she is still in ICU at Herman Memorial.
There were multiple children in each of the vehicles.
One minor child was flown to Texas Childrens with serious injuries and two other minor children were taken to Jasper Memorial with minor injuries. Three other children were transported to St. Elizabeth.
As of November 29, all children had been treated and released from the hospital.
