A large crowd gathered at the Ivanhoe Community Center Wednesday evening, November 23, to celebrate the swearing-in of its first City Marshal. Tyler County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2, Greg Dawson conducted the swearing-in of Terry Riley.

This is something the City of Ivanhoe has been working toward for a very long time and the citizens are thrilled. Our City Council would like to recognize and thank those who have supported our efforts beginning with Rep James White who has been there for us throughout the effort, DPS Captain Michelle McDaniel for her guidance and cooperation, our Tyler County Sheriff, Judge and our Commissioner's who helped us with our Interlocal Agreement, our Municipal Judge Judith Haney for her assistance with moving forward, and of course, Terry Riley who put in endless hours helping get the application together and keeping on top of it the whole way. They say it takes a village and this really did. Thanks to everyone.
