Warren Board discusses Financial Integrity Rating System

by Emily Waldrep

Warren ISD held its monthly board meeting on October 23, 2012 and recognized teachers and employees of the month and discussed the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas rating the district received.

Sara Moore, Patty Ruggles, Amber Kelley, Michelle Ryan, Holly Wyler, and Lori Ard were all named teachers and employees of the month for October and were all treated to a nice dinner in Beaumont and were able to have the rest of the day off from school.

"These individuals were chosen using criteria such as positive team attitude, availability to students, attendance, involvement with extra curricular activities, and willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty," said Superintendent Lance Johnson.

The board also discussed its FIRST rating for 2012. The district scored a 65 out of 70, which would have given Warren a "Superior Achievement" rating, but a required audit was not uploaded by the due date required so the district received a failed status. Warren's financial advisor attempted to upload the audit, but it did not go through unexpectedly.

"The failed status is not from financial discrepancies or failures," said Johnson. "Mr. Ling has done an excellent job monitoring the districts finances and ensuring compliance with TEA regulations."

In other business, Warren reported that they currently have a 96.47 percent daily attendance from students in the district.

The next regular board meeting will be held on November 27 at 7 p.m in Warren.
