Looks like the youngsters were out in force deer hunting this year, with both first and second place winners in the annual Tyler County Booster "Best Rack Contest" under 11 years old.
First place went to Levi Robinson, a 10 year old Spurger student who took the buck in their hunting club in Hillister. He shot the deer with a Browning .308. It Boone and Crockett scored gross 154 6/8. He won a new Marlin 336w .30-30 rifle from Bob's Pawn Shop.
Nine year old Susan Muncrief takes second place in the "Best Rack Contest" with a 10-point buck she shot in the Barnes Pasture close to Chester during Youth Weekend. It Boone and Crockett scored gross 148 1/8. She won a $400 shoulder mount from B&C Taxidermy.
